Our mission is to act as a resource to optimize
the health of our patients and members through political, educational,
and social activities.
Founded
in 1890, the Atlanta Medical Association, Inc. (AMA) is the oldest
African American physician organization in the country. Today, the
organization continues to promote and protect the collective interests
of minority physicians and their patients through its mission.
Our membership includes minority physicians
in a variety of specialties with practices throughout metro Atlanta.
To assist us in fulfilling our mission, the AMA relies on partnerships
with corporate and civic entities to host scientific meetings and
medical forums to ensure that members stay abreast of innovations
in medicine, medical services and the healthcare industry.
A non-profit organization with 501(c) 6 status,
the "goodwill" of the organization is immeasurable, and
it serves as a primary resource to the medical community, and government,
civic, and partner organizations. As part of its outreach to the
community, the AMA sponsors free health fairs providing screenings
on skin cancer, breast cancer, prostate and colon cancer, blood
pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and
HIV to thousands throughout metro Atlanta.
