Vision

STRATEGIC VISION FOR 2005

Theme: "Back Together Again"

  1. Create REPOSITORIES OF INFORMATION for Members and the Community;
    Begin Communication Campaign (local media) to educate and raise awareness on healthcare issues that impact us all.
    Increase membership to build a stong collective voice on healthcare issues that impact our patients and members.
    Develop a discount purchasing network for physician members to add value to membership.
    Organize information for easy access (Archives)
    Maintain a physician directory
    Coordinate forums
    Develop & communicate targeted public service announcements
    Maintain list of medical professional volunteers (i.e. Mentoring Program for Youth, Health Fairs, and Speakers Bureau)
    Health Fairs (coordinate, centralize, list, and facilitate)
    Establish a Calendar of Events (listing of events and activities by month)
    Implement AMA Web Page (Members & Non members)
    Create e-mail address data bank
  2. Reduce Hurdles & Barriers For Member Participation;
    Develop a promotional campaign which clearly delineates all rights & privileges made available through AMA membership
    Disseminate AMA's unique and rich history
    Nurture relationship with AMA's Auxiliary through identifying specific opportunities for partnering
    Provide CME units for AMA activities
    On-line membership application
    On-Line Newsletter
    Develop real-time methodology for surveying opinions and presenting the concerns of AMA's constituents
    Establish communication platform for receiving Comments and Concerns
    Facilitate flow and exchange of information among AMA members
    Coordinate on-line meetings, telephone conferences, meeting spaces
  3. Develop the necessary infrastructure in AMA's operations to facilitate and encourage bi-directional Flow of Information & Accessibility;
    Provide full-time receiving capabilities during business hours
    24 Hour Access to Atlanta Medical Association through an Interactive Web Page
    Assess the AMA office communication needs
  4. Design and communicate a comprehensive and centralized strategy for Creating Partnerships with other organizations and entities (i.e. Pharmaceuticals, - Academic Institutions, Corporations, Governmental Agencies, Civic and Religious Organizations, and Individuals) consonant with AMA's Mission Statement;

  5. Implement and execute a COMPREHENSIVE Electronically Based Communication Platform Strategy Utilizing Internet and E-mail Capabilities;
    Optimize the flow of information (service/product/investment)
    Maximize access by AMA constituents and consumers (transaction)
    Creation of knowledge and value (return on investment)
  6. Reinforce ties and links to other medical societies;
    Enhance flow of information and exchange of ideas with the National Medical Assoc. & American Medical Assoc (national) ., the Georgia State Medical Association & Medical Association of Georgia (state), and Medical Association of Atlanta.
    Establish Presidents Council (Chairperson of Board, Immediate-Past Chairperson of Board, President-Elect) as think tanks and incubators for ideas as well as ambassador functions with other societies.
    Identify specific functions and activities for joint "hosting & sponsorship" opportunities.
    Seek synergy with other societies.
