AMA Auxiliary

The Auxiliary to the Atlanta Medical Association, Inc.

Greetings from the President:
As we embark on a new millennium, the outlook for the Atlanta Medical Association along with the National Medical Association has never looked brighter. The Auxiliary to the Atlanta Medical Association takes great pride in being able to assists with this new horizon.

The Auxiliary to the National Medical Association, Inc. was founded in 1936 by Alma Wells Given in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Auxiliary to the Atlanta Medical Association is the local chapter of the ANMA, and the members pledge to be not only shining lights in the community, but do anything in our power to foster the ideals of better living.

The objectives of the AAMA are as follows:

  • To create a greater interest in the Atlanta Medical Association as well as the National Medical Association.
  • To aid and encourage the Medical Profession in it's effort to educate and serve the public in matters of health and education.
  • To promote, assist and or develop programs on health, education and legislation.

Some of our local and National projects include:

  • Marie Grays Nash  Scholarship (medical students)
  • Project Sun: Pre-Adolescent/Adolescent Prevention and Alternative Choices Program
  • FDA (Nutrition, Cancer Prevention Activities)
  • Breast Cancer Awareness
  • Thanksgiving donation/drives for the elderly
  • Christmas Toy and Coat drive for children and adults
  • Annual Fundraising specifically for the students of The Morehouse School of Medicine
  • Atlanta Medical Association 5K Race / Walk for healthy initiatives
  • Pillar of Strength Program - Black History Month

And the list goes on…

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my personal welcome to join our mission. Membership is open to any spouse of a physician who is a member of the Atlanta Medical Association, Inc. Auxiliary Announcements
Pillar of Strength Program is February 27, 2005 at Buckhead Baranco Mercedes Benz Showroom - 102 West Paces Ferry Road.   6:00 - 8:00 pm .  Admission free; entertainment.  The Pillar of Strength honorees are Ms. M. Alexis Scott, CEO & Publisher, The Atlanta Daily World and Mrs. D. Jean Brannan, CEO, The Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia.  

Doctors' Day will be celebrated during the regular AMA meeting on Wednesday, March 17, 2005 at 6:30 pm at Paschals at Castleberry Hills Restaurant located at 180-B Northside Drive (three blocks south of the Georgia Dome).
